A Productivity Boost from Coffee Machines

I’ve been supplying vending machines to businesses all over the country for several years now, and have spoken with many business owners about their reasons for wanting a machine in the first place. One thing they always tell me is that having a coffee machine on site is great for boosting productivity.

The owners and managers always tell me how delighted they are with the positive effects of installing a coffee machine. As well as their employees being pleased they can get a cup of coffee at any time of day, it seems the reviving effects of the drink (possibly a result of the caffeine?) lead to improved productivity over the course of the day.

So essentially, the primary reason each of these business people has given for wanting a vending machine on their premises, is to help them with their business, rather than simply being a matter of convenience for staff.

Once it’s clear that there are going to be business benefits from having a vending machine on their premises, I need to work out which machine will be best suited to their needs. So I start by finding out some basic info about the way the machine will be used.

Firstly, I need to know how many employees will use the machine. My experience has shown me that each person will use the machine an average of 3 times per day, so what I do then is multiply the number of people by 3.

One recent example is from a meeting with an engineering firm. They had 25 people on site who would be using the machine each day. So my estimate for daily usage was 25 x 3 = 75 uses of the machine each day for this firm.

There are many types of coffee vending machine, and I know that not all of them would be suitable for this level of usage. So I narrowed down my shortlist to a few machines, and also now had an idea of the level of service they would require, including a rough guide to the amount of refills they’d need each month.

There are different ways of having the machine on your premises, as you can buy the machine for yourself, or lease a machine and go for a servicing and maintenance agreement. Most firms go for leasing, but whichever option they choose, they’re always delighted with the beneficial effects to their staff of having a coffee machine in house.
