How to Keep Skin Disasters to a Minimum with the Best Skin Products for You

When it comes to choosing the best skin care products, just reading reviews of products is not enough. Because the product works great for someone else doesn’t mean it will work the same way for you. There are three main factors that should play into every skin product selection that you make. If you choose the wrong type of product, you risk a wide range of skin problems. Using the wrong skin care products can cause some to develop chronic adult acne. Make sure that you pay close attention to your personal skin type and needs. This will help you determine what the best skin products are for you.

First, you must factor in your skin type. If you have oily skin, then you may need to focus on oil-free lotions and creams. Most cosmetics will contain some oils. Always read the ingredients carefully before buying. Adding oily products to oily skin can make you have major breakouts and an uneven complexion. Choose products for sensitive skin if you have combination skin. Combination skin is when part of your skin is dry and the other part is oily. Usually, your cheeks and brow will be dry and the areas around your nose and mouth will be oily. You can either use two different products for these areas or purchase products specifically for sensitive skin. Either will help minimize breakouts and inflammation while accomplishing your beauty goals. If you have dry skin, don’t use drying extracts like peppermint. Conventional moisturizers with artificial colors or scents work best on dry skin. Most of the time it’s the most resistant to breakouts, but you do need to watch for scaling.

After you have determined what type of skin you have, consider your age. When you are in your twenties all you need to do is moisturize and protect. Meaning you should use a good SPF moisturizer. You should not use aggressive anti-aging or wrinkle repair treatments. They will simply clog your pores and dry your skin. In your thirties you may move into anti-aging treatments if you wish, but still focus on prevention. In you forties at the earliest should you have to invest in serious wrinkle repair treatments. If you use age-inappropriate skin products, they may irritate your skin. You may create wrinkles where there shouldn’t be any. The best skin care products will also match the condition of your skin. While age and type are important, weathering must also be factored in. For example, if you were a lifeguard in high school and got some serious sunburns, you may need to move into gentle sun repair products sooner than if you spent your entire life with a minimum of SPF 15 on your face. Likewise, if you do not have sun damage or weathering, then do not indulge in a product to repair it. This will just damage your skin. Choosing the best skin products for you is a customized decision. Do not be afraid to do something different than what the rest of “the pack” is doing. The best skin care products for you are totally personal.
